Ep071 The Importance of Reading the New Testament, Part 1

If you’ve not listened to Ep070, “The Importance of Reading the Old Testament” you can do so at https://www.graceandpeaceradio.com/70

This week, Anthony and Amy continue their conversation about the importance of Bible reading. In fact, when it comes to answer the question: Why should I read the New Testament? Anthony and Amy had enough thoughts that they had to break it up into two episodes. This week is Part 1.

Ep070 The Importance of Reading the Old Testament

Whoohoo! By God’s grace we’ve made it to 70 episodes! Praise the Lord! And a big thank you to YOU, our listeners!

For new Christians, and even for some who have been saved a long time, reading the Old Testament can be challenging. There are so many names, dates, events…And it all happened soo long ago!

While it’s tempting to skip it, this week Anthony and Amy discuss reasons for—and blessings of—regularly reading through the Old Testament.

Ep069 Calm in the Face of Calamity, A Conversation with Pastor Michael Shafran

It’s a powerful truth that even though the world may be engulfed in flames around us, Christians can have calm in the face of calamity. Ironically, many believers are ill-equipped or even ignorant of the ways God provides hope and peace, so they are left feeling fearful or anxious because of the chaos in the world.

This week, Anthony and Amy are joined by their pastor, Dr. Michael Shafran, pastor of Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Powdersville, South Carolina.

Together they discuss how God gives believers peace amidst the storms of life and means He expects us to be mature and disciplined to avail ourselves to have a strong faith, real hope, and genuine peace despite what we read in the news headlines day after day.

Scriptures referenced include 1 Samuel 2; Psalm 42, 43, and 73; Matthew 25:13; and Revelation 22.

Correction: In the show Anthony tried to recall a quote about worry. He thought it was Leonard Ravenhill who said it, but it was actually Oswald Chambers. The exact quote from Chambers is:

Are you looking unto Jesus now, in the immediate matter that is pressing and receiving from Him peace? If so, He will be a gracious benediction of peace in and through you. But if you try to worry it out, you obliterate Him and deserve all you get.

Oswald Chambers
